April is Autism Awarness Month
© Copyright Ada Kanu 2012
This past summer, I spent some time getting to know my two cousins who both suffer from autism, my older cousin who’s now 19 is like every other 19-year old out there, the path to recovery has not always been easy, I took for granted what my children’s ability to communicate and interact with others. My aunt would spend hours marveling that my Henry could say so many words, and over time and researching the topic, have come to understand why.
In honor of the month, I dedicate today’s post to my cousin’s Joe and Emmanuel, my Aunt Ellen, and to all who deal with this disability, but don’t let it get them down.
