Happy first day of Fall!

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
~ John Muir
Clouds of insects danced and buzzed in the golden autumn light, and the air was full of the piping of the song-birds. Long, glinting dragonflies shot across the path, or hung tremulous with gauzy wings and gleaming bodies.
~ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
~ George Eliot
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.
~ Elizabeth Lawrence
For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.
~ Edwin Way Teale
I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne
In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil. And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such superb colour effects as from August to November.
~ Rose G. Kingsley
I’ve never known anyone yet who doesn’t suffer a certain restlessness when autumn rolls around… We’re all eight years old again and anything is possible.
~ Sue Grafton
No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one autumnal face.
~ John Donne
October is a symphony of permanence and change.
~ Bonaro W. Overstreet
The foliage has been losing its freshness through the month of August, and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty who has seen one season too many.
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes
The lands are lit with all the autumn blaze of golden-rod, and everywhere the purple asters nod and bend and wave and flit.
~ Helen Hunt
There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!
~ Percy Bysshe Shelley
Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.
~ Stanley Horowitz
Youth is like spring, an over praised season more remarkable for biting winds than genial breezes. Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.
~ Samuel Butler
A few days ago I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air.
~ Eric Sloane
All those golden autumn days the sky was full of wings. Wings beating low over the blue water of Silver Lake, wings beating high in the blue air far above it . . . bearing them all away to the green fields in the South.
~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower.
~ Albert Camus
Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?
~ Hal Borland
Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.
~ William Cullen Bryant
Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.
~ Carol Bishop Hipps

Advice from famous mothers

Well it is more mother’s with famous daughters ;D
I remember telling my mother, “When I get older, I’m going to be a man.” “No honey,” my mother said. “God made you a young lady; He wants you to be a woman when you get older.”
~Janet Jackson, singer
She told me to stand up for what I believe in and not let people walk over me….She convinced me that I wasn’t really fat and that even if I was, it didn’t matter.
~Clementine Shepherd, age seventeen, daughter of actor Cybill Shepherd
When I was a teenage I rejected almost anything my mother said with a “What does she know?” Now that I’m an adult, her words of advice have come to drive my every day: “Be safe. Be who you want to be. Do what you want to do.”
~Amelia Richards, women’s rights activist, editor
My mother instilled in me, “Make your own money, get your own career together, and then if you happen to meet a great guy, you’ll meet him on a good level.”
~Sandra Bullock, actor
My mama told me that as long as you’re on this earth, if everybody likes you, then you’re not doing something right.
~Merlene Davis, newspaper columnist
[My mother] taught me to have a good time!
~Meryl Streep, actor
